VS-GAMES 2016 Call for Papers

VS-GAMES 2016 – 8th International Conference on Virtual Worlds and Games for Serious Applications
7th-9th September 2016, Barcelona, Spain
It is now beyond question that game-based technologies have moved beyond interactive entertainment and found a place in the wider world; with topics such as gamification and interactive storytelling becoming accepted in many application fields. VSGames 2016 aims to continue the conference series’ overall goals of developing and nurturing theoretical and academic rigour in the discussion of serious games and virtual worlds. As previous conferences in the series have noted, such development is made difficult by the ever-expanding horizons offered by new hardware and technological solutions. The 2016 edition aims to address this challenge head-on by particularly encouraging submissions related to the application and impact of new technologies related to Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).
VS-Games 2016 will be held in Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona is not only one of the jewels of the Mediterranean, it is also a vibrant hub for game-based research and development, with several AAA studios, dozens of startups, and several university courses focusing on games. VS-Games 2016 invites submissions on the following subjects, as well the conference’s standard topics:

Animation for serious games and virtual worlds

Serious games methodologies
User-modelling in serious games
Pervasive gaming

Brain-computer interfaces
As per previous editions, the conference is co-sponsored by the IEEE, and all proceedings will appear in the IEEE Xplore digital library. For the 2016 conference, we are happy to announce that the best papers will be invited to submit to special edition of the Springer journal Virtual Reality.

Notification of Acceptance: 6th May 2016
Camera-ready Version: 13th May 2016
